An Okhyun's works are an expanded meditation on emotions, describing and further leading to emotions drawn out by such descriptions. Her works, uncomfortable yet charming, delicately navigate between the real and the constructed reality, the emotional and the agonizing, and simplicity and melodrama. An Okhyun juxtaposes disparate elements such as opera and rock and roll, television dramas and art films, pushing the audience into emotional uncertainty and astonishment. She deeply explores how emotions depicted through lip-syncing evoke emotional responses from the viewers. While audiences recognize that the unfolding narrative is artificially constructed, the artist investigates how these depicted emotions evoke emotions in the viewer. This process shows individuals standardizes their own affect with specific feelings.
