CoCoon is a music video created in collaboration with Japanese art director and costume designer Eiko Ishioka. CoCoon refers to the protective case spun by the larva of a metamorphosing insect. The lyrics explore a girl's emotions as she meets a boy, with her excitement and ecstasy transparently shown through her expressions and gestures in the video. Red thread, symbolizing the boy and emanating from him, is observed and playfully engaged with by the woman. However, she ultimately wraps this thread into a cocoon, a protective barrier that must eventually be broken through, depicting a challenging but necessary phase of growth. The convergence of the girl and boy in the video symbolizes growth, both sexually and mentally.
<코쿤>은 일본의 예술감독이자 코스튬디자이너 에이코 이시오카와 함께 작업한 뮤직비디오이다. <코쿤>은 완전변태 곤충의 유충이 번데기로 탈바꿈될 때 분비물로 만드는 ‘고치’를 의미한다. 가사의 내용은 소녀가 한 남자아이를 만나면서 느끼는 감정에 대한 것으로, 소녀가 소년에 대해 느끼는 설렘과 황홀함은 영상에서 나오는 그녀의 표정과 손동작에서 꾸밈없이 드러난다. 빨간 색실은 소년의 몸에서 나온 것이기도 하면서 또한 소년을 상징한다. 여성은 그 실의 움직임을 관찰하기도 하고 감촉을 느끼며 가지고 놀기도 하는데, 하지만 마지막에 그녀는 이 실을 감싸 고치의 형태로 만들어버린다. 고치는 일종의 보호막이기도 하지만 언젠가는 뚫고 나와야 하는 것으로, 그 과정은 분명 힘들지만 이겨내야 하는 필수적인 성장의 한 단계로 묘사된다. 영상에서 소녀와 소년이 만나 하나가 되는 것 또한 성적, 정신적 측면 모두에 있어 성장의 과정이라 할 수 있겠다.
