Abstraction Licking is a 2D animation based on Mondrian's paintings. The artist contrasts the purity and rigor seen in Mondrian's work with instinctive, free dance movements and lively disco music. Semi-nude figures use Mondrian's vertical and horizontal lines like dance poles, moving up and down in sync with erotic music, making Mondrian's abstraction resemble a decadent club scene. Through this work, the artist challenges the traditional authority of Mondrian's pieces, aiming to unravel the 'purity' of art.
<추상화 핥기> 은 몬드리안의 회화를 바탕으로 한 2D 애니메이션이다. 작가는 몬드리안 회화에서 보이는 예술의 순수함과 엄격함을 본능적이고 자유로운 춤과 경쾌한 디스코 음악과 대조한다. 반라의 인물들은 몬드리안의 수직·수평선들을 마치 댄서의 봉처럼 사용해서 오르락 내리락하는데, 이 모습은 에로틱한 음악과 어우러져 몬드리안의 추상을 마치 퇴폐적인 클럽의 무대처럼 보이게 한다. 작가는 작품을 통해 몬드리안 작품이 가진 전통적인 권위에 도전하고, 예술의 ‘순수성’을 해제하고자 하였다.
