Magnificat features a chorus of over twenty women using their potent voices and movements to express a range of sounds and whispers. Over a decade has passed since Marta Górnicka first introduced "The Chorus of Women," innovatively combining the physicality and vocal power of performers. This chorus is a feminist proclamation against imposed societal roles for women. The piece examines the stigmatization of women through the Catholic icon of the Virgin Mary and mixes cultural elements like Nigella Lawson's cooking and biblical quotes with the story of "The Bacchae," exploring diverse themes.
<마그니피카트>에서는 스무 명 이상의 여성 코러스단이 강렬한 목소리와 동작으로 소리치며 말하고 '쉬익' 소리를 내며 속삭인다. 마르타 고르니츠카가 창작한 “여성 코러스단” 첫 공연이 무대에 오른 지 이미 10년이 넘었다. 그녀는 지속적으로 퍼포머의 몸과 목소리의 힘을 결합한 혁신적인 공연을 통해 합창의 새로운 가능성을 모색해 왔다. 특히 이 코러스단은 여성들이 사회가 강요하는 역할을 거부한다는 페미니즘적 메시지를 담고 있다. <마그니피카트>는 가톨릭에서 동정녀 마리아로 상징되는 여성의 이미지가 어떻게 여성을 규정하고 낙인찍는지 탐구한다. 공연은 니젤라 로슨의 요리법과 성경 구절이 혼합되고, 바카스 숭배자들의 이야기인 '바카이'가 전개되면서 다양한 문화적 참조를 결합한다.
