Mt. Jade Floating is inspired by the statue of Yu Youren on Mount Jade, Taiwan's highest peak. Yu Youren, a Chinese journalist and Kuomintang member, aimed to critique the Qing Dynasty and promote revolutionary ideals. However, Yu Youren's statue no longer stands, replaced by a stone with the inscription "This is the summit of Mount Jade." Through music and comedic visuals, the artist presents this sensitive topic, encouraging viewers to consider socio-political issues from diverse perspectives.
<자이산의 떠다님>은 동아시아에서 가장 높다고 알려진 대만의 위산에 있던 위유런 (于右任)의 동상에서 영감을 받은 작업이다. 위유런은 청조를 비판하고 혁명 사상을 고취하고자 했던 중국의 언론인으로 국민당의 중앙집행위원으로도 활동했었다. 하지만 현재 위유런의 동상은 파기되고 없다. 대신 그 자리엔 ‘이곳이 위산의 정상’이라는 글씨가 새겨진 돌이 놓여있다. 작가는 다소 민감한 의미를 지닌 주제를 음악과 함께 코믹한 영상으로 풀어 관람객이 좀 더 다양한 관점에서 사회정치적 이슈를 볼 수 있게끔 한다.
