Heteromorphic, 1969, 1h 20min

The term Heteromorphic carries the literal meaning of 'of a different form' or 'engaging in complete transformation.' This artwork is the result of a morphing process utilizing video and sound, highlighting the transformative nature when time and space merge with the medium of video. The bodies in the artwork manifest as fragmented rather than singular, symbolized as a unified entity. The cuboid frame within the work induces variations in space and attempts another morphing of sound through interaction with the audience.

 

‘Heteromorphic’은 ‘이형의’, ‘완전변태를 하는’이란 사전적 의미를 지닌다. 이 작품은 영상과 사운드를 활용한 몰핑 작업의 결과물로서, 시간과 공간이 비디오라는 매체와 합쳐질 때 완전히 변형되는 특성에 주목한다. 작업 속 신체는 단일한 신체가 아닌 분열된 신체로 나타나며, 하나의 기호로서 상징화된다. 작업 속 직육면체 프레임은 공간의 변이를 일으키며, 관객과의 상호작용을 통해 사운드의 또 다른 몰핑화를 시도한다.
