Vanishing Horizon of the Sea bridges personal memories with societal issues for viewers. Scenes include a floating body, an urn with scattered flowers in the sea, sinking broken dishes, and decaying fruit, capturing themes of death, remembrance, and fading memories. Created from aged VHS tapes, the video incorporates analog effects. The artist transforms old media by drawing on the film, adding elements, and using fast-forward and rewind patterns as accidental features.
<사라지는 바다의 지평선>의 작가는 사적인 기억과 사회적 문제들을 관객의 눈앞에서 만나게 함으로써 개인과 사회를 연결하고자 하였다. 시체가 바다에 떠 있는 장면, 바다에 유골함을 던지고 꽃을 뿌리는 장면, 깨진 그릇들이 바다 아래로 가라앉는 장면, 과일이 썩어가는 장면 등 분절된 영상들은 죽음과 추모, 점점 희미해지고 사라져가는 과거의 사건과 그에 대한 기억을 담고 있다. 영상은 아날로그 방식으로 촬영한 낡은 VHS 테이프로 만들어졌다. 작가는 필름 위에 그림을 그리거나 새로운 것을 합성하기도 하고, 고속 재생과 되감기를 반복할 때 나타나는 물결무늬를 우연적인 요소로 활용하는 등의 방법을 통해 구식의 미디어를 새로운 재료로 변형시키는 실험을 한다.
