As the opening screening of this programme, Thread Routes is an ongoing series comprises six chapters, each shot in a different part of the world, creating a mosaic of shared performative elements that unify various textile cultures. Chapters 2, 4, and 6 were respectively filmed in Europe, Asia, and North-Africa. These reveal the structural continuity between textiles, architecture, nature, agriculture, and gender relations within a non-narrative documentary framework, immersing the viewer in poetry and visual anthropology. In Thread Routes, Kimsooja juxtaposes weaving traditions from six cultural zones, linking the performative aspects of textile culture with nature, architecture, agriculture, and gender relations. The exhibition in the main hall offers a profound experience, emphasizing textiles as a source of philosophical and anthropological insights into diverse human life across different cultures.
Screening times: 6 pm, 7.20 pm, 8.40 pm
