Navigating digital, corporeal, and ancestral memory as sites of struggles, Tabita Rezaire embraces scientific imaginaries to tackle the pervasive matrix of coloniality affecting our body-mind-spirits. Inspired by quantum and cosmic mechanics, her work is rooted in time-spaces where technology and spirituality intersect. Deep Down Tidal excavates the power of water as a conductive interface for communication. From submarine cables to sunken cities, drowned bodies, hidden histories of navigations and sacred transmissions, the ocean is home to a complex set of networks. As information and communication technologies become omnipresent in our industrialized realities, the film prompts us to reconsider the cultural, political, and environmental forces that have shaped them.
타비타 르제르는 디지털 세계, 신체, 조상의 기억을 갈등이 내제된 공간으로 상정하고, 과학적 상상력을 통해 몸과 마음, 영혼에 깊이 각인된 식민주의의 복잡한 양상을 해체하고자 한다. 그녀의 작업은 양자•우주 역학에서 영감을 받아, 기술과 정신성이 만나는 시간과 공간에 뿌리를 두고 있다.
〈조수 저 깊은 곳에〉는 소통을 위한 전도성 인터페이스로서 물이 지닌 잠재력을 모색한다. 해저 광케이블부터 침몰한 도시, 익사한 시신, 숨겨진 항해의 역사, 신성한 전송에 이르기까지, 바다는 복잡한 네트워크의 무대가 된다. 정보통신 기술 시대를 살아가는 현대 사회에서 기술 발전의 이면에 자리한 문화적, 정치적, 환경적 함의를 새롭게 조명하길 시도한다.
